Realizing I had been defeated, I put the dough in the rubbish bin outside so Iwouldn't have to face Doug laughing at my work. I went on preparing the rest of the meal, and,when Doug got home, we sat down to Cornish chicken with rice. He tried to enjoy the meal butseemed disturbed. Twice he got up and went outside, saying he thought he heard a noise. Thethird time he left, I went to the windows to see what he was doing. Looking out, I saw Dougstanding about three feet from the rubbish bin, holding the lid up with a stick and lookinginto the container. When I came out of the house, he dropped the stick and explained thatthere was something alive in out rubbish bin. Picking up the stick again, he held the lid upenough for me to see. I felt cold. But I stepped closer and looked harder. Without doubt it wa *** y work. The hot sun had caused the dough to double in size and the fermenting yeast***酵母***made the surface shake and sigh as though it were breathing. I had to admit what the livingthing was and why it was there. I don't know who was more embarrassed***尴尬*** by the wholething—Doug or me.

根的无私奉献使我想到了教师。人们都说:“老师像蜡烛,为我们照亮前面的路,却燃烧了自己。”或许这就是“春蚕到死丝方尽,蜡炬成灰泪始干”吧!教师的事业是崇高的,也是神圣的,“神圣的事业总是痛苦的,但也唯有这种痛苦能把深沉给予我们!”没错,教师的工资并不是很多,但他们总能用汗水挥洒三尺讲台,孜孜不倦地教诲着我们,可是却还有一些淘气的孩子,不懂老师的心,总是让老师们操心烦恼。真是不应该呀!忙碌了一天的老师回到家中,表面上是下班了,但他们却还要打开台灯,批改作业或是备课,他们的辛苦往往学生们不知道,但他们仍然不辞辛苦地工作着,日复一日,年复一年,培育一代又一代国家的栋梁,为社会做出了巨大的贡献。
教师不就像根一样吗?默默无闻地为学生、社会做出了巨大的贡献。但同时,他们也牺牲很多个人的利益,这就是神圣事业的痛苦之处,但也只有这种痛苦能把深沉给予他们,让他们养成以苦为乐的品质。但他们无怨无悔。我说:“老师是我们的铺路石,让我们走向成功;老师是垫脚石,让我们摘下成功之果。”总之,老师总是为学生们奉献着自己,贡献出自己的一份力!
